Cognitive skills are the skills the brain uses to think, learn, remember, problem solve and communicate and we use a variety of approaches (we call them interventions) to help people with dementia and other cognitive challenges improve their memory and thinking skills and to cope with memory loss.
Our sessions are intended for people with mild to moderate dementia and other cognitive challenges, designed to be relaxed, fun and to create opportunities for people to learn, express their views and work alongside others in a culturally responsive environment.
As well as stimulating the mind, our group sessions offer an opportunity for people to share experiences and talk with others in a supportive environment.
Being part of the group helps to build their self-esteem, ensuring they feel better about themselves and their condition.
Our 'relationship-centred' activities and approach serves towards;
'Dementia Never Travels Alone' - it is always understood in the context of her or his relationship with others.
